Want to be a Cooligan?

We’re looking for cool, enthusiastic, outgoing volunteers (aka Cooligans) who are committed to helping make the Art of Cool Festival (AOCFEST) the most incredible community experience the Triangle has ever seen! Cooligans are committed to AOCFEST’s mission and really strive to engage with the community. The size and scope of the Festival footprint means that volunteer support will be needed like never before to help deliver an amazing and efficient Festival experience.

Volunteer Guidelines

Volunteers must:

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Be dependable and punctual.
  • Attend a pre-festival training session
  • Volunteer a minimum of 5 hours of service over the Festival weekend.

Are Cooligans rewarded?

You bet!  Volunteers will receive:

  • An exclusive Art of Cool Festival t-shirt,
  • Free admission to SELECT performances during non-committed hours on the day they are scheduled to work (excluding DBAP performances)
  • A special volunteer discount on the purchase of Art of Cool Festival tickets.
  • Volunteers receive no monetary compensation for their services.

PLEASE NOTE: Priority admission will be given to paying Festival attendees. If you are super excited about the line-up and want to ensure that you are able to see your favorite artist, we strongly encourage you to purchase VIP or general admission festival tickets.

FAQ:

How will I know if I have been chosen to be an AOCFEST volunteer?

All applicants will be notified through the Durham Wayfinders volunteer program.

Will I be trained?

There will be volunteer training sessions prior to the Festival. At minimum, attendance is required at one session. These trainings may also include some position specific training sessions if applicable.

During the Festival, you will work under the supervision of our incomparable Volunteer Team Leaders as well as members of the AOCFEST staff.

Are there opportunities to work other events besides the Festival?

Attendance at events with AOCEST’s various partners is strongly suggested. We are looking for people who are really interested in helping the cultural and creative growth of this community. Priority volunteer opportunities are available for stellar and returning volunteers.
